All guidesA reptile environment log needs measured values
PawLine editorial · Published October 20, 2026
Record readings and their locations. A thermostat setting and a measured enclosure condition are not the same fact.
What to know
Merck describes species-specific temperature gradients, lighting and humidity needs. It recommends thermostat-controlled heating positioned to provide a gradient, and warns that inappropriate heating can cause burns. Ask a reptile-experienced veterinarian to confirm the setup for the exact species.
Write where and when each measurement was taken, the equipment used and any changes since the previous reading. Do not copy a target for a different reptile or change treatment based on this worksheet. A device fault and an animal behavior change deserve separate entries so the professional can understand the sequence.
